We have been Enchanted!

At Christmas while my Mom was here visiting she and I took the girls to see the Movie Enchanted. For Christmas she got them the CD. So we have been LOVING to dance around the kitchen to it ever since! We have been so excited for the movie to come out, so on Tuesday you better believe we bought it! They have been loving it! And Chris finally gets to see what all the fuss is about. When my Mom was here we were dancing around to it and she busted out some chop sticks for the girls to hit together while they dance and so now we HAVE to do that when the certain song comes on. So they listen to "That's how you know" with the chopsticks and run around the island. Then after that is a slow song that they then put the chopsticks up and do a floor routine! It is hilarious! Today they didn't do the floor routine but I will document it sometime! So here are some little clips of them being silly and dancing around! I love that they have SO much fun together! They have been so silly with each other lately and it is too cute! (Except when I am trying to get them to relax and go to bed!) :)

For those of you that don't know...Lucy one day just started doing her "Diego" dance, where she crouches and twists like that and she kept saying "Diego, Diego." It was hilarious but I didn't understand where it was coming from. Then while at the park with some friends, I had Lucy do it and my friend Lyndsee said it's like Dora! How at the end when they sing "We did it!" she does that little twisty dance. Then it all hit me because Lucy calls Dora and Diego - Diego! So it was so funny. Anyway, that is a little explination! :)

Snow again!??!?

So, I guess I am sending mixed messages to my kids. This mess, however, was not inspired by Mommy! But boy does it resemble the "snow."
Sadie has been into going in to Lucy's room in the morning lately. She brings her blanket and a water bottle...sometime q-tips from the bathroom, the wipes from the changing table and then grabs a BUNCH of books off of Lucy's book shelf and throws it all into Lucy's crib and then they proceed to play! Today however she also grabbed sheets and blankets from Lucy's armoire and then the baby powder. I slept in a little and THOUGHT the girls had to. So I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth and Sadie came in. I saw a little white stuff in her hair and said, "What is in your hair." She enthusiastically replied, "powder!" I was a little annoyed and then I realized WHERE the powder is and what she has been liking to do. So I hesitantly went into Lucy's room. I am sorry to say I did not take pictures of the crime scene (we had to hurry and get Sadie off to school) but it was not pretty! Powder everywhere! I am sad to say that, not surprisingly, Lucy got most of it! So no, we did not dye Lucy's hair white! Sadie had a little in her hair and we did not have time to give her a bath before preschool, so no hairdo's with a part...we threw it up in a pony tail (which she does not like). So here are some pictures of Lucy after we sent Sadie off to school. This is even toned down a bit since we had been up and about for half an hour. I threw Lucy in the bath and did some laundry and we are all good. It was one of those moments as a parent that you try not to laugh because they just looked so funny! But also one of those moments that you do not want to WAKE UP to. Not the best way to start off the day! How could you be upset with that sweet face!?! (Oh, and the purple stuff on her chin is the mederma we got for Lucy's chin. I love how she put it on her chin! Too cute! She likes to put it on my chin while I am putting it on hers!)

Snow Day!

We experienced some snow here at our house! Since it doesn't snow here, we decided to create some ourselves! I have been busy shredding old files (four garbage bags full! and my shredder is so ghetto that it would overheat so I would have to wait and come back to it later...NICE) and Sadie was my big helper helping me shred them! She was a little timid about it at first because I was telling her to be careful of her cute little fingers. But the she loved it! Then, it got a little old because there was SO much to shred. So her attention switched from the shreddER to the shreddINGS! But she was very obedient when I told her not to play with it. Then, I was reading in my Family Fun magazine (Thank you Mom!) that this lady brings in their kiddie pool and fills it with paper shreddings and lets her kids play in it for a fun cold weather activity. Well, it isn't really cold outside (Sadie's in shorts and a t-shirt) and we don't have a normal sized kiddie pool, but I thought it would be fun! I figured, how much of the shreddings would actually STAY in the pool anyway!?! So I committed to my craziness and dumped one of the bags out on the carpet in the office (I was going to need to vacuum anyways because there were already a few shreddings from all our hard work and cleaning out a few shredder jams! High quality I know).
The girls were doing their thing so I told them to come into the office because it snowed in there! They were a little hesitant at first, I think because they were like, "Really Mom? We can make a huge mess?" It was funny. I had planned to shut the door to kind of keep it in one area but Lucy was a little unsure of the situation and wanted out if we shut the door. Even still she didn't really venture in to the mess that much. She is very cautious! Sadie on the other hand, had a blast. But still, not surprising to Sadie, it didn't last too long. :) We had a few "snowball" fights and made snow angels and buried a few "treasures" and then they were off to playing in the car (which they love right now - but Mommy doesn't because they stuck something in the navigation CD slot one time and now it won't work!) Anyway, here is our snow fun!

Sadie had just TOTALLY gotten me with a huge "snowball" so she was proud!

Look at that mess...and to think it was intentional!?! It was totally worth it! You know, sometimes I just need to let go of my "Mommy Brain" and just have fun! I was talking to a friend about how easy it is to say, "Oh I'm tired/busy" when your kids ask you to play, but those times that you get out and REALLY play are so memorable and their smiles and giggles are much more energizing than anything I can think of! So, here's to more childlike moments for ALL of us!

Potty Training!

Not the one you are thinking of...but obviously it is not too far away. Lucy took her little "Lulu the Lamb" to go potty the other day!
She helped her wipe.
Flushed the toilet.
And of course, gave her big hugs for doing such a great job!

Effects of the media!

apple bottom jeans
Okay, I will explain...I have a funny story. (This will only make sense to those of you that listen to top 20-ish music. So you know that song Low by I think it is Flo Rida (nice, I know) there is that part that says, "she has apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur...") anyway...

The other day we were going to Target and as I was getting Sadie out of the car she says to me, "Mommy, I want some apple bottom jeans." I tried not to laugh and was just like, "really?" I had to call Chris because he always sings that song, especially when I wear my Uggs ("boots with the fur") . He loved it and thought it was hilarious! She is so funny! I don't think she will be getting those not just anytime soon, but ever!

Changing an every day event...

Sadie had a bright idea the other night. She thought it would be fun to take a cold bath. I didn't think she was serious and I didn't think Lucy would go for it, but they both wanted to, so we let them. Let me tell you, it was freezing! Their poor little toes were so cold! Lucy stood up the whole time, while Sadie was adventurous and would lay down quickly! It was an extra exciting bath time! They had so much fun! Sadie thought it was funny to fill a cup of the cold water and dump it on Lucy! Lucy didn't seem too much unless Sadie dumped it on her head! Then it was not fun and it scared her a little bit! Here Sadie is laughing because she just dumped cold water on Lucy's back! Hence, Lucy's reaction!
Here is what Lucy thinks about that!

And Sadie's reaction:

Ohhh, poor Lucy! She doesn't even see it coming!

After bath the girls have to be wrapped in their towels and then they run down the hall and into Sadie's room. They ditch the towels and jump on Sadie's bed to try to get away from Mommy and Daddy getting them in their jammies! This picture makes me laugh because this night they shut the door, so I sneaked the door open and got this look of surprise! Fun!

This was actually taken before the bath so she is still in her clothes and not jammies. But we always read books together after they get in their jammies. They both LOVE sitting on Mommy and Daddy's laps and reading books together! Sadie has loved to "read" books to us lately. With preschool, she LOVES playing the teacher role. Too cute! We all love bath time and then story time after. It is such a fun time that we all get to be together! And then, Mommy and Daddy get some quiet time, so that is always nice!
